National Account Manager

The primary purpose of this role is to further enhance and develop the business relationship with our strategic wholesale partner, Metcash, in service of the IGA and other independent retailers within Australia.

The role has responsibility for the management of the bread and breakfast categories of the National Metcash account. You will be integral to the success of the independent channel, and will be solely responsible for the sales and promotional strategies, negotiation and trade spend budgets for these categories. Teamwork and collaboration are critical to success in this role. You will be the communication link between GWF National office and the state field sales teams to ensure successful execution of all sales initiatives.

As the National Account Manager; you will also drive the creation and ongoing management of the Metcash Joint Business Plan by monitoring, analysing, and interpreting account specific data, recommending and implementing agreed tactical initiatives in order to achieve agreed KPI’S.

The role requires a considerable focus on stakeholder management both internally and externally within Metcash and key committees and retailers within the wider Independent network.

  • 5+ years’ experience in Category/National Account Executive/Management role
  • Highly collaborative, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to think holistically
  • Able to drive relationships and develop strategic business plans
  • An understanding of the wholesale channel, specifically Metcash, would be advantageous, but is not essential.
