An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Production Manager (known internally as Shift Manager) to join the leadership team at our Canning Vale bakery. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll play a critical role in leading production operations, developing high-performing teams, driving a strong safety culture, and delivering operational excellence in a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment.
This role is ideal for a people-focused manufacturing leader who enjoys coaching teams, solving problems, and continuously improving performance.
This position is primarily a Monday to Friday role, working standard business hours with start times typically between 7:00am and 9:00am with flexibility to provide operational coverage during periods of leave. This includes the ability to occasionally work weekends, early morning shifts (2am onwards) and afternoon shifts.
Purpose of the Role
- Leading and developing Supervisors and production teams to achieve safety, quality and production targets
- Driving a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement
- Managing shift operations to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently and on time
- Monitoring labour utilisation, production performance, downtime and waste
- Supporting food safety, quality and compliance requirements including GMP standards
- Managing employee performance, engagement and development
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders across Operations, Quality, Maintenance and Supply Chain
- Identifying and implementing operational improvement initiatives
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive leadership experience within FMCG manufacturing, food manufacturing, or a related production environment
- Proven ability to lead and develop frontline operational teams
- Strong knowledge of workplace safety, food safety and quality systems
- Experience managing labour planning, production performance and operational costs
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Experience using SAP and Microsoft Office applications
